Zesty Taco Chili

Keep it simple, keep it good!

Hot today, Chili tomorrow!

Remember saying this to your friends when you were in elementary school? Well, it is going to be chilly soon. Winter is fast approaching with its blustery coldness. What better meal to prepare for your family than Zesty Taco Chili?

Whether you're cooking up a batch of chili for a football party or for an evening meal, you'll love the simple goodness and easy preparation of this Zesty Taco Chili. Its packed with meaty flavor and zesty warmth. It's easy to make since most of the ingredients can be stored in the pantry. Simple never tasted so good.

Zesty Taco Chili has lots of legumes, tomato sauce and spices which make it not only taste good, but its good for you, too.  Protein and vitamin C are just two of the healthy ingredients in this chili. Your family will love the zesty flavor, but you'll love the good nutrition they're getting.

So, why not cook up a big batch of Zesty Taco Chili today?

Zesty Taco Chili Recipe

Here's the recipe for Zesty Taco Chili....

1 pound of hamburger

1 large onion, chopped fine

3 (15.5 oz.) cans of Mexican-style chili beans, undrained

1 (15.5 oz.) can of whole kernel corn, undrained

2(15.5oz.) cans of tomato sauce

2(14.5 oz.) cans of diced tomatoes, undrained

1(4.5 oz.) can of chopped green chilis

2 envelopes of taco mix*

1(1oz.) package of ranch salad dressing mix (envelope)

1 1/2 cups of water

1. Cook meat and onion together in a large soup pot until browned. Drain well.

2. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.

3. Spoon into bowls and add toppings.** Yummy!

 

* or make your own taco mix ( see recipe for Homemade Taco Mix below)

**topping ideas: Fritos, sour cream, chopped green onions, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese

 

Makes 3 1/2 quarts or 14 cups

Homemade Taco Mix

Measure out these spices:

2 tablespoon of cornstarch

2 teaspoon of chili powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2  teaspoon sugar

1 crushed chicken bouillon cube

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1/4 teaspoon cumin

Step 2

Mix the spices together and store in an air-tight container for freshness.
